Final Project
Students will given a choice of game play video. They will then need to create the sound and bring the game to life. Students will have to plan and organize their studio recording session for Foley and voice
recording. They will also have access to the portable recorder if required.

Requirements:
1. Multitrack Session File, Folders and Audio Files
2. Audio in 48 hz, Stereo, 16 Bit, Wav Video in MP4
3. Recorded and Edited Sound files

Chosen Game Video
To start the project, I looked through the game video choices that was provided and chose the one that interested me the most. This was the Red Goddess Inner World.

Chosen Game Video

Audio Storyboard
From the given game video, I started to observe the video and listed down the types of sound according to the environment, background, character, elements and more as well as listing out at what timestamp they should be edited in.

Audio Assets

Then I made a list of all the audio assets I would need in a document. This breakdown would help me keep track of what audio I would need to record. Mainly I categorized them into: Ambience, Character (MC), Character (Female NPC & Male NPC) and the SFX

Recording
Based on my list and timeline, I tested out different options that would suit the actions happening in the video best/ the objects associated with the sound best. Then, I went out into the world and recorded a variety of sounds for the respective action/object. I didn't have much stuff with me in my dorm so I had to improvise a lot of it.

I recorded additional audio in case the sound/object I had in mind did not fit the desired action or if all the audio did not combine well together. I captured a few versions some at different speeds and tones to have a variety of selection. I also recorded my voice using my mic and by following the script. I tried to record in a quiet environment. I recorded it multiple times until I was satisfied with it.

First, I recorded my friends as the npcs so I wouldn't have to use my own voices and do alot of manipulation on it. Since there's two npcs, I got 2 of my friends to speak as I record my call. This allows me to have the crisp of their mic as they talk while also having variation instead of using only my voice and pitching it.

Sound Editing/ Mixing
After the recording was finished, I placed the files in Adobe Audition along with the sound effects I created. I first edited my friends' voice. Since the npc is not the highlight, I chose to make them to sound like creatures that couldn't speak normally as I would be the narrator.

Edit 1: NPC voices

After editing the npc voices, I started editing the other recordings I have like the narration clips, ambiences and SFX.
Edit 2: Footsteps

Edit 3: Rocks Going Up

I saw one of the item in game was the checkpoint area which had a spinny effect for the particles so I wanted to replicate the same which lead me to a discovery of an effect. This is where I discover that I could use this effect to create the circulating effect for the checkpoint activation.

Directional sound

I edited the sound effect of the cave part then I discover that one of my clips was not loud enough so I added hardlimiter to allow it to increase the max peak of the audio.

I finalise the compilation the of audio clips to make sure that it syncs with the video before I export it to Premire Pro. The sync of Audition to Premiere Pro allows me to work on Audition whenever I feel like it doesn't feel right and Premire Pro updates it.

Reflection
During this project, I asked my friends for feedback on what kind of sounds I should go for because they play a lot of games and are more sound sensitive. I didn't have much things in my dorm to record with so recording was quite challenging, leading me to go into the world and touch some grass as well as using my own voice recordings to make sound effects. This project was fun and I took it as a challenge to use some of mouthing voice as we learnt that humans are capable of making various sounds.

This project allows me to view what the behind the scenes of sound makings would look like in the industry which makes me more interested in sound making in the future. I've seen clips where sound designers replicate sounds like example footsteps by looking at the footage while making the sound which is what I did for this project for my footsteps clip.
