Lectures
Week 4
This week we learned about appeal. It is better to keep the character simple in animation drawing or simplify complex drawing. Different shapes and proportions can make the characters look interesting. When designing a character it is important to have:
- Variety of shapes
- Proportions
- Keep it simple

Week 5
On week 5, we learned about animation clarity.
Clarity - keep your shot clean and precise; for instance, it could mean simplify the movements of your character so it's easier for the audience to keep up.

Week 6
This week we learned the animation principle of pose to pose and straight ahead.
- Start with Key Pose
- Extreme (Poses connecting key poses are Extreme)
- Breakdown
- In between (Slow in / Slow out)

Instruction
Project 1A: Character Design
For the first part of the assignment, we are required to design a character that could walk on 2 legs as it will be used for our final project later on.
Requirements:
- A turnaround sheet (front, side, back and perspective)
- Pose sheet (Various poses in different emotion) - 5 poses
- Character facial expressions - 5 expressions
Character Design - Jamie
- A little boy around the age of a middle schooler.
- Wears a makeshift knight armor.
- Wears a belt with a makeshift sword.
- Appears mischievous (grin).
Project 1B: Layout Design
The exterior of the place would have the abandoned look covered with overgrown nature throughout the years of the house being there. Worn down and broken wood floors all over the home, creaking from every steps one take.
Feedback
The design looks good
Reflection
It took me a while to get my character design ready as it was a matter of drawing multiple expressions and planning out the character design. I was also using the same characters for my Film Studies module so I spent my time making it look good.
