Week 10
This week, Mr. Kamal tasked us with modelling a character which gave us an
idea of what project 3 will be.
Body - Cylinder (16 sides) and cube
Lower body - Cube > Subdivide > Apply modify > Delete half the
model
Head - Extrude and proportional editing
Pants, Arms and Legs - Cylinder (8 sides) and cube
Instructions
Project 2: Theme Scene-based Modeling
In this project, we are required to model a scene based environment on
the provided themed concept using various techniques we have learned.
The final output will be in a diorama or isometric composition.
Similarly, we have to search for references or blueprint before we
start to model as our guide. After modeling, we should apply the right
material and texture to give its appearance. Lastly, we have to set
the lighting and render the final output using ‘Eevee’ or ‘Cycle’ as
the rendering engine.
Requirements:
Output size: 1280 x 720
Format: .png
Rendering engine: Eevee or Cycles

Before modeling, I looked for some inspirations on the internet to
understand what an isometric model is. I came across a few I liked
that I could incorporate to my model making as I wanted to make a
loft type of design while keeping in a cyberpunk theme.
From what I noticed, most of the cyberpunk themed isometric models use
a lot of lighting to indicate the cyberpunkness. Also, most of the
furniture concepts are futuristic while having intricate shapes.
Blender
I started by making the room by using a square shape and removing a
few faces then solidifying it to increase the thickness of the
shape.
I determined the mid section of the cube to put the platform for my
top floor before making the stairs.
I tried a method to make stairs with a side railing in Blender with
the help of a tutorial on YouTube. I made a platform connecting the
stairs.
I made a few furniture with the basic shapes and using the tools in
edit mode to achieve the shape needed for my couch, tv and tv cabinet.
I added a barrier on the top floor by using the same method I did with
the stairs railing with just a few minor changes in terms of settings.
Then, I continued detailing the top floor by adding the bed as the main
component. I feel like the area was a bit empty on the bottom floor so I added
a table and mat.
I randomly had the idea to add some nightstands on the side to put some lamps
on them so I could later play around with the lighting too. I used the
duplication method to help make things easier for me to make the décor like
the vase and cabinet vase.
I had the idea to make it seem like the sliding door open by loop cutting the
room and deleting the faces so I could put an exterior lightning shining into
the room.
