Reflection:

- I find that my research topic was broad. Therefore, I tried to research on a scope to focus on in order to have enough time for the research.

Week 3

  • Present research proposal progress

  • Tweaking my proposal

Progress Remarks:

Write on the weekly feedback.
Do draft on my research.


Reflection:

I realized that my topic is sort of okay but there was nothing to back up my research as I have not done any findings on it. The lecturer was okay with the proposal of focusing on educational animated videos as a learning method.


Findings:

I will use Google Scholar to get articles related to my issue.

Further research using Google scholar and make sure the articles are valid around 5 years time. 

Don’t rely on anything from the media.

Make sure the article was made by someone certified to do so.



Specific feedback:

The topic is accepted though I need to find articles and read into it. 


I can make a channel from youtube as an example for my secondary data to support my idea.

Week 4

  • Finish up the research proposal


Progress Remarks:

I need to read the articles to make sure it’s related to my research.


Reflection:

My problem statement needed to be rewritten as it was not up to the way I was supposed to do it.Same goes to my research rationale.


Findings:

I realized the issue in my drafts after relooking into the MIB and the class materials in TEAMS.

Progress remarks:
Look through the notes and examples on doing critical review for the next class.


Reflection:

It’s my first time doing a critical review. I was not sure at first on how to go on with it after gathering the articles I found on Google Scholar. Plus, I was not sure if it was relevant to the topic I was on. Therefore, I tried to look deeper to find backup articles in case it gets rejected.


Observation:

It’s hard to find the article that I want to find as most I’ve found were outdated or not relevant to the research I’m doing

Progress Remarks:

Go through the MIB and lectures again to understand better before making another draft.


Reflection:
I’m back to kinda square one as my first draft was not really up to the standards. The way I sentenced my topic was not right with the usage of words that I had written in my topic. I’m lost again but I’ll try again. Now my focus is shifted a little more towards edutainment. Animation as a tool goes beyond e-learning. 


Observation:

I realized by changing my topic I was able to find my research papers better.

  • Prepare primary data methods


Progress remarks: 

Choosing the right method of data gathering and justify why it is suitable for my topic research.





Observation:

I don’t think I can find time to do more than one method for primary data.

Check for minor spellings in survey form and try to get more responses. 


Week 10

Prepare my questions for the primary data method to start gathering the results for the submission. Find educators that have implemented edutainment as a learning method in class for my interview.

Week 11

  • Making google form

Progress remarks: 

Prepare my questions for the primary data method to start gathering the results for the submission. 


Reflection: 

My first time making google form surveys was interesting but I thought it was gonna be hard. It wasn’t that hard after all as I lack self confidence.


Observation:

I don’t think my survey is that good. I would say that it is quite basic and simple but it does achieve my research objectives and questions.

  • Spreading surveys online

Progress remarks: 

I made accounts online to get into survey groups so I can share my survey there to get more respondents around 80 people.


Reflection: 

I waited and waited for the surveys to kick in but it took quite a while for me to get the responses.


Observation:

I was very impatient when it came to waiting for the respondents to come in and was so mad when I couldn't get enough.

Number the questions when making your survey as it is easier for us to analyze it later on. 

Week 13

  • Getting more respondents

  • Working on slides

Progress remarks: 

Prepare my questions for the primary data method to start gathering the results for the submission. Find educators that have implemented edutainment as a learning method in class for my interview.


Reflection: 

I find it hard to get respondents overseas so I ended up asking my online friends to spread it on their discord server. 


Observation:

I was not sure if I could possibly reach the goal of 80 respondents but I hoped for the best that I could reach the number.

Keep the form open and start working on the final presentation.


Week 14

  • Work on my simplified slides

Progress remarks:

I work on making my simplified slides for the final presentation as I need to fit it into 5-8 mins.


Reflection: 

I managed to obtain enough people but I needed more time to work on updating the slides and recording my presentation.


Observation:

I should work on getting my work done on time next time. This part took me a while as I had to reshoot my presentation a few times as it went beyond the time limit.

General Feedback:

Indulge in Canva to get inspiration on making a good presentation slide. Play around with the color contrast when making slides.


Specific Feedback:

Miss told me to work on my survey during my holidays by including educators so that I can have a learner vs teacher research. On top of that, she told me to work on putting scale instead of just yes and no answers. She also told me to work on my slides to obtain the marks for presentation.




Reflection
Experiences
This module emphasizes on the importance of doing a research and analysis when it comes to debating on a topic. This was my first time doing such research on a particular topic which results me into falling behind when it comes to doing the module. I wasn't keen on doing such observation and findings. Therefore, it resulted me in taking so much time completing each task. Not only that but I was struggling on getting enough respondents as most of the answers I had to cancelled out as some of them were unserious on answering them. This took a toll on me which ended up with me submitting my work late as I needed to achieve the minimum respondents needed for my primary data to be valid.

Observation
Finding the suitable research articles that is not above the limit of 5 years published was hard as most of the ones that were relevant dated quite a long time ago but thankfully I was able to find 3 of the required articles. I noticed that I was bad delegating time for the task which ended up with a not so good work in my opinion. 

Findings
Throughout the semester. I learnt alot on writing a research paper ranging from how strict it is for it to be relevant, how time consuming it is and so much more. Judging from my earlier submission, I would say I did a better job at the end in terms of making the slides for the final presentation as I wanted to be able to capture the attention of the viewer. In the end, I was glad I survived till the end with the amount of experiences I've gotten from this module.
