TASK 2A- KEY ARTWORK
For Task 2A, we were required to create a key artwork, which works as a
logo/artwork that represents yourself by using our name/initials. Which will
also be used in Task 2B
1. Ideation and sketches
We were told to start off by making a mindmap to know ourselves in order to
apply some of the things we identify into our design since it has to represent
us in some ways. During this phase, I was going through an existential and
identity crisis as I struggle to identify the things.
Ideation through mindmapping

Sketches
I started off with sketching the keyartwork with my nickname 'hanif' derived
from my actual name with a little bit of spice. Though sir tried to stop me
from using this nickname because my name was nice hehe. In the sketch, I tried
putting in my personalities in the work to showcase the type of person I am
through my artwork.

2. Word expansion
Sir chose the one on top right and told me to work on it better by adding
spaces between each letters as it looks very congested and hard to read.

Choosing color scheme
I scrapped my first color scheme as it kinda looks like I stole the color
scheme from subways or in fact it looks like I was gonna start a hot sauce
company which does not really speak well about myself since I'm sensitive to
spice ): sobbing
Fig 1.4 color scheme test
Therefore, I chose to go with a milk company to battle the heat hehe. I chose
this cool looking color scheme as it best describes me if I was a colour as
I'm pretty chill as a person if you get to know me.
Making the word post
I made a 3x3 framing as a guidance for me to use before I post it on Instagram
to see how it will turn out. Ignore the namecard on the right as Mr Vinod
rejected it to the fullest as he does not want everyone to make a namecard.
I chose to make it a theme of a milk company that make fun of weak people who
can't drink milk (its a joke don't get me cancelled). We were also told to
include a bnw picture of ourselves in our post and I look so bad in it damn.

Feedback
Week 4
General feedback:
- don't describe things client can see when selling design
- propose more than one idea
Specific feedback:
- have one reason when deciding the watermark creation
- make sure it's readable
- make sure it's something you would like to have on a product
- don't interperate too much on the design
Week 5:
General feedback:
-Create an artboard with the artboard size of 210mm x 297mm.
Specific feedback:
- Make the letter 'h' smaller to be the same size with the other letters
- Decrease the distance between each letters
- Make it look like the one on the shirt
Week 6
General feedback:
- thicker outline or solid color to bring out the wordmark as it has to
be strong
- gradient is a no as it decreases readability
- don't just take the original work and stick it on the mockup
- use parts of the watermark to make it less noisy
Specific feedback:
- avoid pastel shade as it is light
Week 7
General feedback
-work on design post differently
-take good photo example: tdc.org
-upload gif as mp4
-exaggerate when it comes to taking your photo
-avoid doing repetitive post
-more exploration don't just be stucked on the collateral
Specific feedback
-make the collateral more interesting instead of it being in one shot
Reflection
Experience
This is the first time of me doing this type of project. At first I find it hard to think of things I can put into my design with any characteristics as it involves alot of self understanding and I do not have that. I spend most of my time thinking about how I could make the wordmark screams me in a way.
Observations
From this task, I had observed that understanding colour combinations is important for a brand identity. I learnt that color affects the readability alot as it can either attract or lose the viewers' attention. It was interesting to see other people's way of interpreting themselves in their design.
Findings
Making a collateral takes alot of time and understanding as it has to reflect the person or the brand in its own way which means also meaning being an original design. I find the most interesting during the animation making as I am into those kind of stuffs rather than actually designing something typographic.
