Lecture
In this week's lecture, we learned about adjustment layers and filters in
Adobe Photoshop.
1. Adjustment Layers
Adjustments layers is a non-destructive image editing tool that adds color
and tonal adjustments to an image without permanently changing its
pixels.
Brightness & Contrast
- Adjusts the tonal range
- Brightness slider is for adjusting highlights
- Contrast slider is for adjusting shadows
Level
- Modify the tonal values
- Adjusts the levels of shadows, mid-tones, and highlights
Curves
- Adjusts the entire tonal range of an image
Exposure
- Adjusts exposure levels with three sliders: Exposure, Offset, Gamma
Selective Colour
- Selectively modifies the amount of a primary color without modifying the
other primary colors
2) Filters
Using filters to edit photos is an essential element of Adobe’s graphics
editor. There are filters to change color, add blur or create
completely new image effects.
Tutorial
Mr. Fauzi showed us the icons and functions of the adjustment layers and
filters. We watched these video tutorials to become familiar with how to use
important tools in Adobe Photoshop.
Practical
In this week’s practical class, Mr. Fauzi helped us to select the best
composition from our task. We are required to use our knowledge of
adjustment layers and filters and improve our digital collage.
Reflection
This week we learnt about adjustment layers, brightness and contrast,
curves, exposure, filters, etc. I learnt to apply lighting, changing hue and
saturation.
