D – Describe Objectively What Happened
In the first week, Mr Mike introduced us to the class briefly before he told us to get in a group of 7 people of mixed specialisation. He showed us the past projects that the semester before us had done which was quite interesting. Mr Mike was trying to prove to us the point that it doesn't matter what background we have whether it being design, computing or etc as long as our first initiative was to solve an issue.
I – Interpret the Events
I learnt to understand the wants and needs of a user. Though the group consists of different background specialisation, this is where we get to learn new things whether it being within the scope of our field or a different field as it does not take much to learn something new.
E – Evaluate What You Learned
I was surprised to see the interesting works that were just left to be a draft idea rather than being made to the public eyes as some of them could really contribute to helping the community. If our project were to be interesting for the client, I would most likely let it happen rather than keeping it in drafts. Judging from the beginning of this module, I can tell that this work would require a lot of teamwork and brainstorming as we have to work as a team
P – Plan How This Learning Will Be Applied
To solve a complex problem by putting on our thinking hat to come up with many ways to overcome it. This would help me when I were to be working in an industry to work on a project.
Week 2
D – Describe Objectively What Happened
This week we had a meeting with Mr Justin who is the founder and chief product officer of TrueXR. The meeting was held together with another group. The objective of the meeting was to ask Mr Justin the questions that we had prepared prior to the meeting that was first approved by Mr Mike. From this meeting, we got our questions answered which would come in handy during the project working stage as first we were confused on what would be the expected outcome at the end of this project. I learnt that we should ask questions whether if it is considered as a dumb question or not, it is better to be clear on both ends.
I – Interpret the events
We spent some time doing contextual research to understand the topic and our targets for it before going for the interview. Basic information like the specs of the glasses and more helped us bring up questions for the client to further understand the kind of content that is suitable to be displayed. To find the data needed for this demographic study of previous years, I had to pull up strings to find the relevant data which surprisingly works. I do not regret studying bahasa in my past as it helped me significantly in finding the government annual data.
E – Evaluate what you learned
This enables us to move forward without making any sort of careless mistakes that could take us back to square one. It may take time to be significantly prepared for the meeting tho it’s best we know than to not know.
P – Plan how this learning will be applied
In the future, I will do the same as to get myself prepared with enough contextual research on a topic before heading for any meeting as this could help me plan better on the next move. This helps me to be professional in the sense of asking questions formally. In my next coursework, I will get myself to jot down any notes or questions I have in mind in advance rather than coming up on it during the meeting itself spontaneously.
Week 3
D – Describe Objectively What Happened
During the third week of class, we focused on developing user personas and survey questions. Since we completed our client interview early, we could work on these tasks before the week's lesson. We refined our work before presenting it to Mr. Mike for feedback. I worked on crafting the survey questions, while the tasks were divided among the team. Mr. Mike suggested making the user personas more general and advised us to think about whether the open-ended questions would yield responses that would benefit our project.
I – Interpret the Events
The survey questions are key in getting answers for our project. If the questions are not well made, it would just be a waste to make the questionnaires. I learned to understand the kind of response that we could possibly get and adjusted it to be more straightforward allowing good response to be recorded.
E – Evaluate What You Learned
This week’s feedback taught me that to make a good set of questions that we would have to understand the feedback we want that could possibly support the data we’ve previously researched or possibly go against the found data. After all, we can’t just proceed our design process without confirming the data we found during the contextual research phase.
P – Plan How This Learning Will Be Applied
In future projects, I’ll apply this lesson to ensure that I understand the persona’s wants and needs when doing the user research.
Week 4
D – Describe Objectively What Happened
During the fourth week of the module, we focused on distributing the survey until we reached the minimum number of responses or saturation. According to Mr. Mike, saturation occurs when we have enough data to draw conclusions, and additional responses no longer provide new insights. Once we reached 100 responses and observed that the conclusions remained stable, we divided the tasks among the team.
I – Interpret the Events
This week's focus was on identifying saturation in survey responses to avoid collecting unnecessary data. Analyzing the public’s perceptions of AR glasses and MR experiences was enlightening. Many respondents had not experienced MR before, highlighting the importance of making their first experience comfortable, welcoming, and unique. The survey also revealed concerns about AR glasses, which could help us pinpoint pain points and develop a more user-friendly product that enhances the overall user experience.
E – Evaluate What You Learned
This experience was valuable in teaching me how to work with data and recognize patterns to understand user preferences and expectations. Analyzing the survey results provided crucial insights into user behavior, particularly regarding new technologies and experiences. These insights can directly inform design improvements, resulting in better end products and user experiences. This highlights the significance of gathering data to understand user needs and expectations.
P – Plan How This Learning Will Be Applied
In the future, I will focus on collecting quality data over quantity, ensuring that responses are useful. This approach will help me design user-centered, user-friendly experiences and products. Identifying pain points in user experiences will enable me to create more comfortable and usable designs. Learning from this experience will enhance my ability to improve future projects continuously.

Week 7
D – Describe Objectively What Happened
In Week 5, we had the opportunity to test the TrueXR glasses, gaining firsthand experience with the technology. During the testing, we noticed a few limitations, such as the narrow field of view (FOV) and the glasses' reliance on an external device for functionality. Despite these constraints, it was an exciting experience that enhanced our understanding of the technology's potential. After the session, we divided tasks, and I was assigned to brainstorm and develop exhibition space ideas for our project proposal.
I – Interpret the Events
The testing session provided valuable insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the TrueXR glasses. The limited FOV and the dependency on an external device presented challenges that we need to address in our project content. These observations clarified how we could effectively use the glasses to create engaging and immersive experiences. This experience emphasized the need to tailor the persona’s wants and needs while making it an unforgettable experience.
E – Evaluate What You Learned
Testing the TrueXR glasses and interacting with the CEO of WarisanXR was an inspiring experience that deepened my understanding of mixed reality technology and its potential. The limitations we encountered highlighted the necessity of balancing creative ambitions within the space given to ensure smooth traffic flow while making sure we incorporated the wants and needs of the personas.
P – Plan How This Learning Will Be Applied
In future projects, I will focus on developing content ideas that align with concerns of the users. I’ll prioritize making the journey not only memorable but comfortable as it could be the first time for most people or even older people who are unfamiliar with the experience.
Week 6
D – Describe Objectively What Happened
This week, we visited Muzium Negara to explore the space given for our exhibition and gain a deeper understanding of how the Malaysian history and culture were displayed in a museum to understand a sense on how to make the experience better than the ones in the museum. During the visit, I observed the museum's ambiance, spatial layout, and exhibit presentation. These observations provided insights on how the space is well planned for the traffic movement of the visitors while maintaining a good amount of exhibitions. After the visit, my team worked together to brainstorm exhibition ideas, refine our problem statement, and develop "How Might We" (HMW) questions to ensure our project objectives were clear and achievable.
I – Interpret the Events
The visit offered valuable insights on how to convey cultural and historical narratives while providing interactive elements into our exhibition. Observing the museum’s layout and user engagement with static displays highlighted opportunities for improvement. Crafting HMW questions helped us focus our brainstorming session by addressing specific challenges.
E – Evaluate What You Learned
The museum visit was crucial for our research on spatial design of the exhibition space. Being able to be in the physical space helped me visualise the size of the content and traffic flow of the visitors. The HMW questions and brainstorming session sharpened our focus, ensuring our project remained user-centered and goal-oriented. This experience increased my confidence in transforming abstract ideas into concrete design solutions.
P – Plan How This Learning Will Be Applied
I will apply the HMW questions to guide my design decisions, ensuring they address specific challenges and user needs. I’ll incorporate insights from the existing exhibition's spatial and visual arrangement into the exhibition space, ensuring that it does not interrupt the traffic flow within the space and around it.
D – Describe Objectively What Happened
This week, we had a discussion on finalising the art direction to suit the client’s want for a futuristic and dreamlike feel while also having the historical elements. During feedback, Mr. Mike pointed out that our project lacked a flow and needed a unifying theme, such as geography or time. This led us to brainstorm new ideas, and a suggestion was given on focusing on Merdeka Day, a moment when all cultures unite, rather than highlighting just one aspect of Malaysian heritage. This suggestion made the experience more personal and nostalgic while also giving us a direction for the project.
I – Interpret the events
Initially, we concentrated on individual cultural elements, but Mr. Mike’s advice helped us to understand the importance of having storyflow to the experience rather than having the experience portrayed individually.
E – Evaluate what you learned
The feedback given helped me realise the importance of having a narrative flow to the experience as it helps us to form the concept better that we could grasp on. By using a storytelling method, we get to tell a more immersive experience while also making sure the visitors have fun rather than showing it like the museum does as it would just defeat the point of making it an immersive experience.
P – Plan how this learning will be applied
In future projects, I will apply this understanding of narrative flow, ensuring each element connects to a relatable theme. This approach is crucial in my field as it is crucial for me to be good at narrative. In my future career, storytelling roles will be key to user engagement.
Week 9
Week 10
Week 11
D – Describe objectively what happened
There were no classes during Week 8 and Week 9 due to Independent Learning Week and Mr. Mike’s absence, respectively. The feedback we received was from our presentation with TrueXR in Week 8. During our presentation proposal, TrueXR provided feedback on various aspects. The most highlighted feedback was the art direction, the engagement for each station, and the idea of balancing heritage with futuristic style. We were told to try to incorporate more elements of heritage as our current one leans more on a futuristic style. The team designer suggested toning down the neon color scheme to more of a heritage feel or incorporate some batik design.
I – Interpret the events
The issues are mostly highlighted on the art direction of having neon colors as it is usually seen as the futuristic aesthetics color. Though it is important for us to also incorporate the heritage elements and not make it too futuristic, it is safer to meet in the middle between the past and future as that could be too much changes.
E – Evaluate what you learned
Consistency across each station is crucial. Including some sort of gamification and interactive elements like 3D holographic visuals can make the exhibition more appealing, especially to younger audiences. We also learn on how the design choices should be respectful even if we’re adding any modern twist to it.
P – Plan how this learning will be applied
Going back to the HMW goals, I will be able to make a good immersive journey on one station before the other stations to ensure the amount of excitement I would want to anticipate.
Week 10
D – Describe objectively what happened
This week, we had a feedback session with Mr. Mike regarding our content. He stressed the importance of creating engaging and interactive content for visitors. He suggested connecting our storyline with gamified elements, which had been a challenge for us. Additionally, he emphasized the need for consistency across all stations, ensuring that no station felt significantly superior or inferior to others. He also highlighted the importance of maintaining consistent interaction methods to enhance the overall user experience.
I – Interpret the events
Mr. Mike's feedback provided insights on how to merge our story and gamified concepts. His advice on balancing the quality of each station led us to reevaluate and refine our content to ensure all stations are equally engaging. This feedback not only addressed our current challenges but also encouraged a more user-centered design approach.
E – Evaluate what you learned
This feedback was invaluable as it gave us a clear direction for improving our project. Emphasizing consistency and quality across all stations ensures that every part of the experience is well-crafted. It also underscored the significance of user interaction, a key component in designing immersive experiences.
P – Plan how this learning will be applied
We will revisit each station’s design ensuring that the amount of excitement is equal throughout the experience. In the future, I have to ensure that the content I would be making would ensure the same amount of excitement from the start till the end.
Week 11
D – Describe Objectively What Happened
This week was quite productive as we finalized most of our content, leaving only the execution phase. Our focus was on creating visual representations of the content. I concentrated on the street games station, which features various games that users can select by clicking on a virtual field. We then consulted with Mr. Mike, who pointed out the importance of layering our storyboard to make the content more accessible. He also recommended ensuring a uniform art style across all stations and suggested we perfect one station before expanding to others. This approach would allow us to get everything right in one station, setting a standard for the rest
I – Interpret the Events
Mr. Mike’s feedback offered significant insights into enhancing our project. The suggestion to layer the storyboard helped me realize the necessity of organizing content clearly for easy comprehension. His advice to work on one station first reinforced the value of iterative development and testing. This method ensures uniformity across stations and improves the user experience. His guidance addressed our current issues and provided a clear framework for effectively completing the project.
E – Evaluate What You Learned
This week’s feedback was extremely beneficial, emphasizing the need to develop and refine one part before scaling up. Layering the storyboard and keeping the art style consistent will simplify the development process and help create a cohesive final product. These lessons underscored the importance of detailed work and iterative testing in crafting meaningful designs.
P – Plan How This Learning Will Be Applied
I will implement this learning by finalizing and testing one station first to set a precedent for the rest of the project. I’ll ensure that the storyboard is structured to facilitate clear navigation while maintaining an element of surprise for clients. Keeping the art style consistent will be a priority to unify the overall experience especially for my future career. These strategies are crucial for this project and will be valuable for future design and user experience projects.
Week 12
D – Describe Objectively What Happened
This week, we concentrated on finalizing our art direction references, particularly for each layer of the storyboard. After numerous rounds of discussions and second-guessing our concept repeatedly, we ultimately decided to go with the classic kampung, jungle, and retro Malaysian themes. Once we settled on the art direction, we divided the storyboard into layers and began working on them. This approach allowed us to test and refine one station/item before progressing to the next, ensuring that each element was polished. The storyboard played a crucial role in communicating our visual concepts to the client without the need for extensive animation.
I – Interpret the Events
Finalizing the art direction gave us a clear focus and vision for the project. The iterative process of questioning and revising our choices, though challenging, proved beneficial as it helped us determine the most suitable art direction. Breaking down the storyboard into layers provided a structured way to handle each part, maintaining consistency across the project. This experience underscored the necessity of having a unified vision before delving into the finer details.
E – Evaluate What You Learned
This process highlighted the importance of teamwork and resilience. Even though the constant re-evaluation was tiring, it strengthened our concept by addressing weaknesses early. The decision to experiment with one station/item at a time showed us the significance of iterative development—perfecting one component before replicating the approach across the project. We also learned that storyboards are vital in client communication, bridging the gap between idea generation and full execution without needing to invest in complex animations initially.
P – Plan How This Learning Will Be Applied
In future projects, we will prioritize early discussions on art direction to minimize prolonged indecision. We’ll continue to use a layered approach for storyboarding, refining individual elements systematically to ensure alignment with the overarching vision. For client presentations, we’ll rely on storyboards as a primary tool to convey our concepts clearly and gather feedback before moving to more resource-intensive stages.
Week 13
Week 14
D – Describe Objectively What Happened
This week, our focus was on developing the storyboard and creating the key visual for Station 4 - Food. One of our main tasks was to ensure the key visual matched the dreamlike quality we aimed for, which took careful attention to aligning it with our chosen art direction. Mr. Mike suggested raising the models so that they would be positioned in a way that facilitates easier interaction for users. This feedback highlighted the importance of ensuring our design is not only visually appealing but also user-friendly.
I – Interpret the Events
The process of refining the key visual emphasized the importance of maintaining a consistent art direction to build a cohesive experience. Striving for a dreamlike aesthetic required creative problem-solving and a careful approach to detail. Mr. Mike’s advice about raising the models made me realize the importance of balancing aesthetic appeal with practical functionality. This prompted me to consider how critical it is for creative designs to be user-centered and easy to engage with.
E – Evaluate What You Learned
This experience reinforced the value of iterative design and seeking timely feedback. Mr. Mike’s suggestion of adjusting the height of the models to improve user interaction was a simple yet impactful change. I also learned the importance of aligning all design elements with the central theme, ensuring every detail contributes to the overall experience. This process helped me appreciate how small, thoughtful adjustments can enhance both the storytelling and user engagement.
P – Plan How This Learning Will Be Applied
In future projects, I will prioritize the depth of fields of my content as this makes the jumbled up pieces look as if they were in one piece.
Week 14
D – Describe Objectively What Happened
This week, we focused on finalizing our key visuals, refining them to ensure they aligned better with our theme. We made adjustments to the perspective of various elements to improve the overall composition. Along with this, we began working on our storyboard and other essential content such as posters, wristbands, UI designs, and an animated map. The workload was ALOT as we have to prepare for our upcoming presentation next week.
I – Interpret the Events
Refining the key visuals helped me understand how small tweaks, like altering perspectives, can significantly enhance the overall design and its visual impact. Starting the storyboard and working on supplementary materials provided a clearer view of how all the visual and interactive elements should integrate for a cohesive experience. I realized how essential it is to balance storytelling, design consistency, and interactivity, as each element plays a role in maintaining the quality of the project. This process underscored the importance of iteration and collaboration, as the team’s collective input often reveals new insights.
E – Evaluate What You Learned
This experience was valuable because it taught me the significance of attention to detail and adaptability in design. I learned the importance of critically evaluating visuals and narratives to ensure they align with the overall theme and effectively communicate the message. Additionally, it reinforced the need for effective planning and time management when handling multiple deliverables. These skills are essential not only for academic projects but also in professional environments where precision and multitasking are crucial.
